Marketing 101 – The New Rules of Marketing

Welcome to our very first blog post, the first of many more to come. Ok so a little intro about ourselves, we are proud to say that we are new on the market but don’t let that fool you, we do have an edge.

We are a group of young-ISH coders, programmers, artists and designers who are striving to adopt the latest technological innovations to deliver the best solutions to our customers. That’s right it means we are very quick to adopt new innovations.

How do we start this blog journey? Given that we are new, as mentioned earlier, we are taking ourselves back to class on what we’d like to call “MARKETTING 101 – THE NEW RULES OF MARKETING”. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be going through different marketing strategies. Analysing  different ways to market your brand, product, service, empire or whatever you’re calling it. We’ll be dissecting each tool/method one at a time. The cool thing about this is, we’ll be practicing what we’re preaching. We hope they’ll be of help to you.

Good marketing strategies are valuable tools for any business or individual. The concept is very simple; you want people to know about your products or services. If we could all have our way, we’d like to have a fan base similar to that of APPLE, before we drift into the jealousy world, let’s get down to these new rules…

Is it visually appealing? Does it work on all platforms? Are there any calls to actions? Does it convert immediately?

Is it visually Appealing?

Study shows that 55% of users spend less than 15 seconds on a website. That’s a very short time for them to capture all the information on your site. If your website is not visually appealing you are at risk of loosing potential customers. Do the colors complement each other? Is your navigation simple to follow? Are things lined up properly? Do you have well written content/text on your site? If you have a brick and mortar shop, you spend a lot of time making sure that things look inviting for your customers, why not your website? Think about the 24/7 exposure your website gives your business.

Does it work on all platforms?

In this day and age, more and more people are accessing websites on their mobile devices, smart phones/tablets. Are your customers/viewers having to pinch and zoom just read your contents? Does things look out of place when viewed on smaller screens? Do you have navigation that’s easily accessible on smaller screens or do people have to scroll and scroll to find things?

Are there any calls to action? And does it convert?

Call to Action: In marketing, a call to action (CTA) is an instruction to the audience to provoke an immediate response, usually using an imperative verb such as “call now”, “find out more” or “visit a store today”. (That’s Wikipedia definition).

We hope you are getting the picture now, more action words like “subscribe”, “donate”, “Register”. There’s no point of having a website that doesn’t convert, whether your aim is to get people to buy, join your network, give, offer their support etc. having a CALL TO ACTION makes it more achievable.
